PQRS and Service Pack 7
Physician Quality Reporting or PQRS is a reporting program that uses a combination of incentive payments and payment adjustments to promote reporting of quality information by eligible professionals. EPs satisfactorily report data on quality measures for covered Physician Fee Schedule services furnished to Medicare Part B Fee-for-Service beneficiaries. Beginning in 2015, the program also applies a payment adjustment to EPs who do not satisfactorily report data on quality measures for covered professional services.
PQRS is not Meaningful Use. While some of the requirements of the two programs align, the programs themselves are different and have separate payments and payment adjustments. Click here to download a PQRS Overview Fact Sheet from CMS outlining how to participate, reporting methods, selecting measures, incentive payments and adjustments and other helpful information. CMS has an entire section of their website devoted to PQRS.
If you will be participating in PQRS through any of the reporting options other than claims-based reporting, you must be on CPS 12.0.7 or EMR 9.8.7. If you have not yet scheduled an upgrade to Service Pack 7 and are planning on participating in PQRS, please contact Quatris today by emailing email@example.com.
